2014 Jan 8 UTC: false positive interstellar bolide and sensationalized claims of a debris field, with mock-heroic recovery of materials claimed to be disintegrated and melted fragments of alien technology - possibly the most far-fetched misinterpretation of lightning-related evidence in the planetary science and impact geologic corpus. microfulgurites are expected from superbolt modification of suspended organic and mineral debris, and redeposition of coastal muds upon benthic fans.

For example, here are images of visually, metrically, and chemically identical materials, all recovered from known locations of lightning strikes and accompanied by macroscopic slag-like Type II-V fulgurites:

Proton/electron enhancements had been superposed at third day of an SPE and USAF radar and photon detection source error is necessarily greater than 50% - although exact values relative to "blue sky" standard systematic error is classified, with bolder radar incapable of detection of velocity and trajectory simultaneously well below the assumed velocity of supposed interstellar/hyperbolic bolide. The non-detection became a minimal parameter for motion, which was identical to the range LISM-LIST bulk flow (23-28 km/s and ~32 km/s) relative to the ~2 km/s solar equatorial bulk rotation motion, so this motion is an artifact of magnetic field interactions with inertial field lines, a rate he claims exceeded 40 km/s (which is the typical plasma propagation speed along the magnetopause boundary).

Converging Earth-directed CME shocks and X-ray flux directly after the first X-class flare event of the year, directly at perihelion: sustained radio blackout in the range that all bollde detection networks operate. Avi Loeb initially claimed that USAF provided adequate error statistics to support the modeled impact parameters of the putative 2014 New Guinea event, but quietly contradicted this only months later, after having eschewed military radar data that he had previously claimed to have possessed, granted to him by DoD sources, in a preprint uploaded to Arxiv, for optical methods, and then eventually seismic data. Loeb never admitted his deception in overstating and misrepresenting his data sources and their reliability. Seismic data had not been resolved to have been the product of anthropogenic or CME impact atmospheric density wave coupling, or the result of [potentially correlated] superbolt discharge, as the sky region is known for in the putative impact zone.
